Who can take the SAT?
College Board’s SAT registration pages do not impose a general “Class XII only” rule. The exam is designed for students applying to colleges, and many students take it during high school. Students under 13 have a separate registration process, while standard online registration is used by most students.
When do students usually take it?
College Board notes that many students first take the SAT in the spring of junior year and again in the fall of senior year. In the Indian school context, that broadly aligns with Class XI/Class XII planning, but your university deadlines should determine the best date.
