What changed for Class 12?

CBSE published a separate examination-form notice for private candidates in Class XII, dated 7 October 2026, and lists it under its 2026 examination circulars. The main private-candidate portal now advertises an online application for Main Examination 2027. These notices are not the same as school-submitted List of Candidates (LOC) filings.

The circular is the authoritative document for eligible candidate categories, the fee schedule, examination locations, permitted subjects, submission windows and correction instructions. StudyDesk has not reproduced unverified last dates or assumed that every applicant qualifies.

Check whether you can apply

  • Open the correct Class X or Class XII circular using CBSE’s official portal; do not rely on a social-media screenshot.
  • Read the category-specific eligibility criteria carefully, especially if you are a repeat, compartment, improvement or other private candidate.
  • Confirm the allowed subject combinations and documentation before starting. Private-candidate rules are not identical to regular school registration.
  • If you are unsure whether your category is permitted, seek clarification through the CBSE helpline or regional office before paying fees.

Safe step-by-step application checklist

  • Visit the official CBSE Private Candidate page, then choose the application for Main Examination 2027.
  • Read the circular and instructions, including eligibility, deadlines and any required declaration.
  • Prepare academic records, identification information, valid contact details and any documents your eligible category requires.
  • Enter the same particulars that appear on your applicable records, verify subject choices and preview before submission.
  • Use the payment method presented on the official portal only; save the acknowledgement and transaction record.
  • Revisit the official page for a correction window, status, centre information and later admit-card instructions.

Important cautions for students

Do not share your OTP, password or payment credentials with someone offering a guaranteed CBSE form approval. An application submitted through the correct portal is not a guarantee of eligibility or admission to an examination.
