GRE General Test current status in India
The GRE General Test is used by graduate, business and some law-school programmes. In India, candidates schedule the computer-delivered test through ETS and select from available appointments. It is not a once-a-year entrance exam, so the relevant test date is the appointment shown in the official scheduling system.

GRE exam pattern and duration
The current GRE General Test is much shorter than the pre-September-2023 version. It has one Analytical Writing task, two Verbal Reasoning sections and two Quantitative Reasoning sections. The overall testing time is about 1 hour 58 minutes.
| Measure | Questions / task | Time |
|---|---|---|
| Analytical Writing | 1 Analyze an Issue task | 30 minutes |
| Verbal Reasoning section 1 | 12 questions | 18 minutes |
| Verbal Reasoning section 2 | 15 questions | 23 minutes |
| Quantitative section 1 | 12 questions | 21 minutes |
| Quantitative section 2 | 15 questions | 26 minutes |
Verbal and Quantitative Reasoning use section-level adaptation. The first section of each measure is of average difficulty; performance helps determine the difficulty of the second section. Within a section, the computer-delivered test allows candidates to move among questions and change answers.
